LGBTQAI: Identifying Culturally Competent Clinical Skills

Overview:

This training is designed to be a primer for clinicians in working with sexual minorities along the LGBTQAI spectrum.  Content will cover commonly used terminology, a review of relevant statistics related to the prevalence of trauma, substance use, and mental health disparities, stereotypes related to gender and sexual orientation, in addition to exploring and implementing culturally competent practices.

Learning Objectives:

  • Familiarize participants with appropriate terminology and nuances in language
  • Examine cultural stereotypes that influence emotional and behavioral development
  • Identify at least 3 examples between the differences of culturally appropriate and inappropriate practices when working with LGBTQAI individuals

Recovery Centers of America is a NAADAC approved education provider (#155307). NAADAC approved CE(s) are accepted by most state licensing and certification boards. This course is worth 2 NAADAC credit hours.
