Thursday, June 17, 2021 | 9:00 – 11:00 AM ET / 8:00 – 10:00 AM CT | Virtual - WebEx

Overview:

First Responders have unique stressors that they deal with on a regular basis. It can be difficult for some families and their first responders to understand how to best manage these stressors.  Through an exploration of how first responders are impacted by traumatic stressors and subsequently, how their families are impacted, we can then explore the concept of family resilience.  Resilience is common among first responders. Self-efficacy, collective efficacy and sense of community could be considered resilience factors that preserve first responders' work-related mental health. This training will identify ways to help improve the relationships for our first responders. We will discuss strategies to keep the family together and work together to manage these unique stressors. We will expand the concept of resiliency often discussed in regards to first responders, and explore the resiliency of the family of first responders.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the interrelationship of a first responders and their line of work
  • Identify what resiliency means and its impact on first responders
  • Define what trauma is and explore its impact on first responders
  • Develop a working understanding on how to support first responders and their families as they navigate through their trauma
