Overview:
A comprehensive overview of Motivational-Interviewing (MI) will be presented. The overarching essence and spirit of Motivational-Interviewing will be highlighted, while a more detailed discussion of both basic and enhanced Motivational-Interviewing skills, specific to working with Substance Use Disorders (SUD’s), will be emphasized. The presentation will address how to work through client ambivalence and effectively utilize Motivational-Interviewing skills to increase positive client outcomes in SUD treatment settings.
Leanring Objectives:
- At the end of this training, participants will be able to understand and articulate the basic overarching principles of MI.
- After participating in this training, participants will be able to utilize basic and enhanced MI skills to help clients work through ambivalence, develop self-identified treatment goals, and work towards enhancing client treatment outcomes.
- By participating in this training, participants will learn how MI can help them build more collaborative relationships and avoid burn-out while working with high-risk and complex treatment presentations.
