Motivational Interviewing

Overview:

A comprehensive overview of Motivational-Interviewing (MI) will be presented. The overarching essence and spirit of Motivational-Interviewing will be highlighted, while a more detailed discussion of both basic and enhanced Motivational-Interviewing skills, specific to working with Substance Use Disorders (SUD’s), will be emphasized. The presentation will address how to work through client ambivalence and effectively utilize Motivational-Interviewing skills to increase positive client outcomes in SUD treatment settings.

Leanring Objectives:

  • At the end of this training, participants will be able to understand and articulate the basic overarching principles of MI.
  • After participating in this training, participants will be able to utilize basic and enhanced MI skills to help clients work through ambivalence, develop self-identified treatment goals, and work towards enhancing client treatment outcomes.
  • By participating in this training, participants will learn how MI can help them build more collaborative relationships and avoid burn-out while working with high-risk and complex treatment presentations.

Recovery Centers of America has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7002. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Recovery Centers of America is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. This course qualifies for 2 credit hours.
